my transducer clapped out the other week so was looking around for a replacement and picked up an absolute bargain, raymarine es127 mfd with gps, digital sonar clear pulse , radar , lighthouse11, network, 12" touchscreen the lot. ex demo never been on boat and wont be kept on one ,
£700 inc p&p(retail now at £2500 - £3000) and bought a separate wide beam transducer £35 . hope to get it going over w/end have had it running at home and it looks really good

tried it out today in marina and all seems ok. has anyone had one of the navionics mini charts ? thinking of getting one from Grimsby to astrutter. I now have a lowrence elite 4x dsi (no transducer) for sale.

I've got the full UK Navionics chart, and to be honest it's more like an artists impression than what's actually under the boat for our region.

trying to work out if its worth buying a chart at all, I can add the fishing marks I need and can get the wreck positions etc from wrecksite eu for 30 euros /year if needed. nothing much changes where I go so don't see the need for an expensive chart unless somebody can persuade me otherwise. if I was travelling around different ports on a regular basis then yes, but not just sniffing around local ground. I mean why would I want a chart of Grimsby or Berwick or Peterhead i'll never go near them places.

I've been logging sonar and using Insight Genesis for the last few years to make a chart of the area that I fish. It's very accurate and handy for spotting possible fish holding areas.

Have a look at
https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#boating@8&key=q_plI%60cnF

Zoom into the area that you fish, (this is off Skinny).

Now zoom into somewhere like the Solent,

that's been well charted, look at the detail.

If the area you fish looks like the Skinny image, don't bother buying the Navionics for fishing because it hasn't got the detail, unless you are feeling philanthropic and want to pay for the privilege of updating their charts by sending them your sonar logs.

i can get that from wrecksite eu with details of the wreck. So not convinced it's worth it . Does having the contours help that much? I suppose they might do. I've never had a chart card so not sure. Perhaps the lads who use them now can advise. Are they worth the money for day trippers like me.

This is part of a reef that I charted myself. The lighter the colour, the shallower.
