What does it fish like these days? I know there used to be a canny few pike and roach in when i was younger...anyone been lately?

In truth mate, in 2011 the place was heavily polluted and the fish died. There were big carp, eels, jack pike found dead. Some were rescued some may of survived??
I've fished it 3 times since and nothing. Stills beautiful place and I hope it recovers and gets restocked.

It did hold 1 or 2 big pike which I hope survived. The owners were going to stock it with trout and pike which would be perfect for me as there is nothing in the North East.

just b4 it all silted up with the storm drain and killed a load of fish i had a few pike out 13lb was the biggest and just previous to that i know of a 17/and a 21 or 27lber that was caught loads of rubbish in the lake trolleys bike frames i even pulled out a wheel barrow and that like grass weed is terrible for loosing your end gear in to weeks i lost over £55 in lures ended up having a hook with line attatched to retrieve them when they were snagged worse than shields pier lol also had small perch on the mepps such a shame best of luck regards stan

It's unbelievable the big fish it has held, I would of loved to have fished it in it's prime. What I believe with small pressured waters is the pike become very hard to catch. They can sometimes even refuse dead baits so you will need to outwitt them.
I've lost a bit of gear in there in the past as it is really shaggy. One of the pike I found dead was about 6lb with a trace stuck down it's throat.

also seen some hooligans catch a canny jack about 8lb could,nt get the lure out so they ripped it out of its gills then nailed it to the tree bloody idiots such a shame

Shocking!! But most places we go these days there is idiots about, I work next to cox green on the river wear and used to fish that area a lot and seen lads with 12ft beach casters and 6oz weights casting straight over the river towards the houses
