bass fishing in ireland

hi guys ,
im heading to ireland next week for a few days of bass fishing , im not looking for anyone to tell me marks ( i have them ) but i would like to know if you guys have ever tried to fly fish for bass ?
the guide that is taking me is talking about using bait , lures and fly but i have never been fly fishing for bass .
any advice would be nice lads please .
i will be fishing the south east coast ( if that helps )

There's a guy on Anglers Afloat website selling home made sal****er flies (31weasel) Shrimp and Sand eel, these look the dogs and at a good price. I also think he uses stainless hooks.

I will be fly fishing for bass on the Isle of Wight this year using these.

Wrong time of year for Bass mate, even in Ireland. What's the guides name?

Depending where you are in Ireland any time can be bass time. We have them around pretty much 12 months of the year although here at present it is smaller fish up to about 3,5lbs which are showing as the bigger fish are away spawning. The only time you cannot fish for bass are the close season of 15 May to 15 June.

Yeah but I wouldn't travel all the way over there at this time of year. There will be a few fish in the South West but not too much in the south east for another month or two. If I'm spending all that money to get there I would wait and go sometime after the ban in June through to October myself.
