Bass Fishing

you were out with a mate of mine a while back and told him you got out about 3 times a week:o, if thats not having a hell of a lot of spare hours i dont know what is:rolleyes:

Brian

A couple of hours each time works out about 6 hours a week

I didn't give you the details you wanted so you just keep having a pop. Your mate said you were a funny un!!

Jesus!! I've caused some Controversy here, I was only being curious about Bass fishing lately, as I have said it was a long time since I caught a Bass, I haven't been sea fishing for about 3 years or fresh water fishing for a year.
All I wanted to know if Bass were still around the north east and approx location (i.e Blyth Beach, Whitley Beach).
I know Bass have been caught on Blyth, Whitley and Tynemouth beaches, also Lynemouth beach has produced some, Cambios used to be a good spot when the pipe was there from the power station, and also even heard reports of them up the Tyne as far as Scotwood, So I did not want exact locations, its just like other people on here some of us can't get out all the time due to family/work commitments.
So it would be nice if people did share info, as this is a forum site, and I have been looking on the boat fishing section and boats share info on there, but it doesn't have to be exact locations.

Unfortunately bass fishing usually does generate a bit heat on forums.

A lot of the marks you have mentioned there are still quite consistent in the right conditions. Big seas are great but not always imperative, bass will come very close in especially during darkness and in calm conditions. Fresh crab or ragworms on a 1/0 running ledger work great, try casting very close in and setting the drag on your reel as they go like hell when they hit your bait.

didnt refer to anyone but yes me too i have all them commitments too but find time to go out fishing now and then twice this week i have been out its a great hobby instead of internet fishing ;)

I haven't been sea fishing for about 3-4 years but done some freshwater fishing lately, but was thinking about going out to chuck some heavier weights out so was just enquiring about fishing reports lately before heading out in search of quarry, I don't internet fish, but thought this forum would be a good place to start, but sounds like there are alot of ignorant or unhelpful people out there, and the people from the north east are usually regarded as being cheerful and helpful lot but that age must have past by.

It must be the quiet time for shore anglers is it?

Go out scratching for flatties or something - hell even the macky are showing so fill your boots and get some fresh air away from the PC

As to Bass fishing - apply the theory that's in the mags and books to your local marks and you may just be surprised as they're not as rare as people think ;)

Aye been out twice this week mate had 2 canny days av put them in the catch reports

am only joshing mate - each to their own ;)

at the end of the day these forums are there to be used by the membership however they wish

some peeps like to share and some peeps are secretive and some just come on the forums to see where the fish are being caught for their next match ;)

What I've found is that you have to put in the miles yourself at times before those that know a bit more than you start to offer a bit of help and guidance

Forums are always full of haters mate.... some people just bitch instead of getting their hands dirty. Sad really but true, its not just fishing, mountain biking forums, car forums are full of "know it alls" who dont know you and your experiences and try to put you down... Rise above and put them on their asses i say!

We used to get bitched about all the time on mountain biking forums because of not wearing mets for little everyday riding situtaions... not because where stupid, just was a bit overkill for few small drops and stuff, while the "all the gear no idea" people all bitched like hell about it... when they had no balls for anything!

A lot of people seem to think that because you become part of a forum that this gives you access to the specifics of another anglers knowledge. It doesn't work like that.

Why should anyone disclose exact information of a mark/species that they have taken years to build up?

What happens when you do??? You're favourite marks become swamped by other anglers, netted by commercials or the mark becomes a dumping ground for litter. This may not always be the case and some anglers will be discreet but I for one wont take the chance.

Bass/Thornback information has been disclosed by myself and other anglers on this site, what we have given is the basics - a good place to start. It is then up to the individual to put the remainder of the effort in to achieve success.

Nick1/Clarky dont spit the dummy when you dont get the exact information you want, you'll find specifics are never given out on any forum just the same as asking anglers about specifcs when meeting face to face.

I don't have countless spare hours to try for species or new marks as I have 3 kids, but I do learn something every time I go out and slowly build up my own knowledge.

You will only ever get out what you put in.

Tight lines fellas

lol true bud - i didnt think you were havn a go but your right, if i bothered to take a pic i should at least be bothered to post it.

I've fished since i was 8 and am now 41 and tryn help anyone with info on marks to what hooks, line and shockleader i prefer.

aye your right, members use the forum how they see fit, i suppose with me if i see someone asking for a bit of guidance and i know how to help i will wether its a pm or post but thats generally how i work - if I can help I will -
I dont think along the lines of well i've walked miles to find that spot am not telling you, someone can even join me if they wish and if he pulls a decent fish in or even a double good on him, it dont make me jealous it makes me chuffed av helped him, its just a hobbie to me

As I'm a member of a business and tiling forum that gives customers and firms advice on the right way or wrong way of how it should be done, I look along the lines of thats what forums are for, to help someone or be helped.

I cant really see the point of putting your huge catch on and when someone asks where you caught it from as they obviously will you say am not teln you.

I remember a while back someone put up his catch report for that night and it was very very impressive until my mate pointed out the pics had a date in the corner of photograph and the dates were different:eek: whats going on there then.

Hi guys, Im also looking into trying out for a few bass this year but I must say im still a bit confused. What is the best way to pick them up? I have a few different marks in mind but would I be better off bait fishing for them or spinning etc? Any help would be greatfully appriciated!

A fished with a guy one night on the high rocks at the right side of coldingham sands once, very stormy but he pulled a one in on either rag or crab about 1 1/2lb I would say, think it was September or October, not sure as it was a few years ago. Well that's all my knowledge of Bass angling shared:D
