Tried for bass last night with there being a nice sea on.
Got to my mark at 1 am and had this fish first cast, 47cm.

Then it all went quiet until 5am! 46cm.

Both on crab.
I don't normally keep bass, but were having these for tea :)

Yeah just asking out of interest I do most of my fishing around the south shields area or north of of the river just wondered what part of north east not the actual mark more interested to know what what tackle was used, both nice fish I would have kept them.

Ive eaten my fair share of bass but i think there overated. Just coz all these posh chefs use them, people think their the dogs. 2 nice fish by the way, well done.

Where were you fishing mate & what were you using

Don't want to say where mate! Just incase the netters are reading!
But you have a chance of bass from loads of shots in the area, its more to do with conditions.
Any sandy beach can throw them out with a bit of run on the water!
If its calm just fish snaggy marks for them.
The fish I had this morning were stuffed with crab, sometimes you get them stuffed with sandeel, so fishing areas where you know the fishes food is will give you more chance.
I'm no expert by the way!
I used a 2/0 pennel with crab lobbed 20 - 60 yards.
Rag is also good!

Cheers for the other comments lads, tight lines.

Well done on catching your target species a successfully session.

Only ever caught bass on the spinner when targeting them. Had a few by chance on the bait.. Going to give it a go this summer on bait for bass tho.
