bass tactics

forgot about this site:

http://www.linecaught.org.uk/

its commercial bass fisherman, but all are line caught, handlines or rods, and if you look at the who's who tag info, most of em reveal what their best lures are

Red Gills do seem to be one of the faves. I've used em in nw scotland trying to target bass but have caught more pollack with them than bass, probably due to the fact there's not that many bass around up there.

I've fished sennen and gwenver beaches with them and they are pretty good, along with dexter wedges

Cambois Pipe was the area I used to fish for them before the power station closed down, had quite a few mullet from there at times too. Bass to 7lb and Mullet to 5lb, used to often see other oddball species caught too. I'd think with the pipe gone then the shoals will have spread out around the coast now.

shone a torch in the water there one night when the pipe wasn't churning out and the water was flat calm, all you could see was a solid fin-to-fin carpet of fish. Hundreds if not thousands. ranging in size from young school bass to some good sized fish. it *was* possible there at one time to catch some amazing fish too, I've had bass over 7lb and mullet to 5lb there but that's going back a decade now! I did check it a few times before the actual pipe was demolished and couldn't see any signs of them still being around.
Shame, but then again there were plenty of people there abusing the potential catch numbers most of the time too.

Was like that a few times when i was on there, but getting the buggers to take a bait was another thing!
