Beach set up

Currently use an RT Axcellerator/SLOSH 30 as my Rock/Heavy ground set up, but also fancy a rod and reel more suited to clean ground fishing. Have heard the Reelsport VFM mentioned but don\'t know anything about it, and wondering if anyone uses this paired with either a SLOSH 20 or Penn 525 for fishing off clean beaches such as Blyth/Cambois beach? Looking to spend about £100 ish on the rod.

Would be greatful of any suggestions.

Thanks for that Tony. What sort of weight are you finding gives best casting performance, and is there an upper weight that you would use?

If I get one, I will probably match it with a SLOSH20 or 525GS.

It will cast 6oz + 2 baits, but it`s better with 5oz and baits.

I usually just use my slosh 30, but if you use a smaller reel with 18 or 20 lb line you should get decent distance.

A mate has just bought the Orion 13ft for the beaches and is impressed. I haven\'t had the chance of a chuck yet so can\'t comment. He tried the 14ft as well before he bought and opted for the 13ft. Used with SL20 and 20lb line. Adverts describe it as suitable for clean or mixed ground.

Well, bought a Greys Orion 13ft today for £99.00 from ID Fishing. Only thing I\'ve noticed is the reel fitting is crap and it doesn\'t actually hold the reel properly. I could just pack it out with tape, but think a call to Greys will be in order to see what they have to say. Has anyone else had this problem?

Now I just need a reel to go with it - either a Slosh 20 or 525.

cheers

I had the same problem with the reel seat.

I just put a few turns of tape under the position I wanted my reel, slid the seat onto the tape, and had no trouble since.

Cracking rod, mind.
