Beacons this morning/afternoon

After buying a excellent condition Apollo mk 2 from sid on here a few weeks ago ive been struggling to christen it. I've had trips up to craster, hadston rocks and cresswell but nothing.

Went down to the beacons this morning for the first time ever for about half 9 - 10, must say it was freezing, literally.

I had no luck for first two hours. no rigs coming back. rod dropped over and knocked the one of the eyes out ... to be honest I was ready to call it a day and put the gear away until September... nevertheless I ate my pork sandwiches and carried on.

Eventually I got a massive knock and landed a rockling, never been so happy to see one on the end... then I landed a just undersized codling.... then found some sinkers in a rockpool.... how my luck changed.

must admit it was good to get out on the shore as I've been travelling the 60 mile round trip and cheating recently and going to hebburn marina with my light gear, however, not had much luck there either... I did meet some local anglers though who have been good crack and very helpful :)

Also in my opinion the beacons looks like throwing some fish out tonight!!!! If only I had some bait left ha ha.

Good luck lads.

Sounds like nightmare session mate, unlucky on the damage to the rod and well done on the codling and re-stocking the sinkers 😉

60 mile is a canny trip where is the beacons then ?
