Fished Roker pier this morning from about 6.30am -10.30, there where a few already there in particular 4 men of about late 30's to late 50's bait fishing, they where doing quite well catching a few coley's one a good size about 3lbs, one of them pulled in a father lasher of about 12 inches, his mates laughing saying he would haveto unhook it as they wouldnt touch it, then the idiot (only words i can use without swearing) pulled out his knife, cut its head off and kicked it over the side, this is unbelievable from so called adults, its bad enough having to deal with the lager swilling mackerel morons and have to put up with this as well, thats it for me i will not fish this pier again.

A complete and utter tosser.....ive saved loads of sea scorpions over the years from the same type of people who ignorantly think they sting, they have a few spines but thats it,a firm hold with a cloth, unhook the poor things and put them back, theres a pic on another forum of a guy holding a big lumpsucker nowhere near water .....WHY?.....put the things back along with wrasse and flounders even the most dedicated fish eater cannot enjoy eating any of the previously mention species...

Reading this really makes me sick. Treating fish like that is bloody awful man. I got a weever the other night and got it unhooked with a t-bar, didnt even have to touch the fish. Really gets me when folk kill stuff like this for the sake of it, its totally unnecessary

Problem is, thats the mentality of quite a few so-called anglers nowadays. I was on Blyth pier about 5-6 years ago in the mackerel season, and there was a group of lads between 16 -20 year olds catching mackerel throwing them at each other, and one of these morons caught another mackie, took a huge bite out of it with all his mates egging him on. I just packed up and went home:confused:

I was down at my local beach, and a bunch of kids were throwing live mackeral on the barbie for fun thinkin that people were interested in their antics.

Nice idea...but would these people have a licence? I think not...

Words fail me to these kind of actions towards fish.
More anti-angling ammunition if they witnessed it.

If they dont have licence then they would be breaking law surely?? Clearly enforcement measures would need to be introduced as per coarse angling or the collection of shellfish. I personally am all for it and I would report such incidents to those responsible for enforcing it. Why should a minority of dim wits ruin the reputation of the rest of us!

nope

nope

wd a licence stop the tinsel tossers and larger louts during makkie season nope i think thers enough redtape as it is no more please just more money 4 a nother not elected bunch ov pen pushers:rolleyes: when u c tons ov fish being dumped over the side by trawlers and nothings done whats the point ov a licence

there morons.....and then there are morons....i just love it when u get a so called pro who brags got 300 fish bla bla bla bags were bursting ...ask them whats the point .....and they have a stupid look on thier face...same type of idiots thats gonna cast over ya and then say its not his fault ....would love to kick them into the sea.....

a license wouldnt help at all lets get this in perspective a bit, its a fish even though i disagree strongly with there actions.

there are far more worse things going on the world than that !

like dolphins been caught in tuna nets , and the ice caps melting ,oil slicks killing millions of fish birds and wildlife no 1 mentioned that ! , i think we have more to worry about than 1 fish

what is a piece of paper going to do ? i will tell you "nothing" i totaly 100% agree with redcaruk well said mate.

AGREE WITH REDCARUK :thumbup:THERE IS MORE TO WORRY ABOUT THAN FISH. WHAT ABOUT THE BEE'S APPARENTLY WITH OUT THEM WERE ALL IN THE SH*TE. BUT SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THE CREATURES OF THE SEA'S THEY HAVEN'T LONG LEFT ON THIS PLANET AND IF THE BEE'S DECIDE TO FOLLOW THEM, GUESS WHAT

agreed sid was reading without bees there would be no life on earth so next time u squash a bee rember just as easy to open window and gently persuade it out bees are harmless.

wasps on the other hand there buggers we dont need them at all !

You say it wouldnt help, why wouldnt it help? By having an agency who will address the actions of someone whose behaviour is offensive!

Looks like we will disagree!! I would gladly vote for and pay a licence fee if our sport got rid off these people.

By the way the other stuff is a totally different argument and off the topic in debate!!

i personally think a licence would help:) and would happily pay it if piers and coastlines would be patrolled regularly;)

a few heavy fines dished out for undersize fish, fishing without a license and other offences - people would sharp get the message:mad::)

yes there are bigger problems going on, BUT that doesnt mean we cant work on smaller problems, small changes further along the line can turn into big changes for the best:thumbup:

Sadly I believe that the prospect of a licence has all but disappeared with the election of a tory government which is generally committed to the principles of de-regulation.

That said the idea of anglers running a registration/licence scheme with a vested interest in ensuring its success maybe a way forward, just a thought. It would need to have some form of legislative power behind it though.
