Hi All,
Got a new reel delivered last week and it had some damage so rang the shop and they said send it back and we'll send another plus refund the postage. Got the reel today (undamaged) plus a spool of Berkley XTS Salt water 18lb red line chucked in so full marks to the trader. Question is, anyone used this line and what's the SP on it? Any opinions appreciated.

I've been using it for a few months now mate and for me it's spot on. Not the lowest diameter for the breaking strain, feels a bit chunky but it's strong and pretty smooth, ideal for the pier. I've been using the 20lb stuff on my 525 and had no problems at all. I won a few reels of it and some Big Game in the Sunderland open, bonus!
 
Yer Mark noticed the 18lb is 0.38 which is the same diameter as F1 20lb but I trust your review mate and will hoy it on:D Cheers
 
Preference in line is a personal thing mate, what's good for one may not be for another. Only thing to do is spool it up and if you don't like it you can throw the rest at me.:D
 
I've used the XTS in 18 & 20lb and it's very good stuff - casts nicely and very,very strong…nearly took my hands off trying to pull for a break one time and ended up pulling in half the sea-bed with a couple of old rigs & kelp stalks mixed in for good measure. A friend who tried the 40lb stuff for rough-grounding complained that it was practically unbreakable when he was buried in a proper fast-had. Much, much better than that F1 stuff that I frankly wouldn't even use for rotten-bottoms!
Oh, and it's a good price too:thumbup:

found the line a bit wiry but it is as strong as hell ,mixed ground line this is ideal you dont want a soft line the is not very good with abrasion.

also been red in colour gets a thumb up for me i like to see my line stops the seagulls bumping into it and good for night or daytime fishing.

a bit wiry as i said but after a few casts on a multiplier settles down well impressed.

Been using this line for the last few months,recommended by a mate,cant
complain so far,casts really well,strong and holds up well.Priced reasonably
and better than the stuff i was using before which was penn.

Alarm bells ringing here now, sounds like a nest waiting to happen
 
Have tried berkley trilene big game in 30lb for rough ground.. Found it reliable and strong.. Filled my slosh30 twice from one spool so not too bad for £10.. Although diawa sensor got the edge for me.. :)

Have to say I found it quite user friendly, no issues with it lifting or anything when casting - I found the Big Game a little more prone to this (as well as being a bit thicker) and worst of all was the Daiwa Sensor…in heavier strains it was like loading your reels with a Slinky! I like the red colour too as it's easy to see. Give it a go, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Well I've just loaded up with it mate and have to say it seemed OK. Just see what happens now, either I'm ganna be a fan of it or hoy the remainder at wrasse king:D
 
tried green big game 20lb was not impressed as it seemed to have a twisted profile over a good few metres, don't know if it was a bad spool but stripped it off and went back to the clear big game which I find fine
