The thing is a rod, especially when you get in to the top end rods, is a very personal thing and a rod one person loves another will not like. Length, stiffness, butt diameter all come into it.
For example a lot of people in our part of the world equate a stiff rod with a good rod. I spent 20 years fishing the south coast from Chesil in the west to Brighton in the east and I will always use the lightest, softest rod I can get away with. I also prefer a shorter rod - 13' to 13'5" is about right for me and I'm not a big fan of 14' plus rods. My first rod out of the bag for 90% of the fishing I do up here is my Primo Synchro, however, it is a bit soft in the butt for proper rock fishing and high piers so if I had to choose one rod it would be the M4 Evo. Light but plenty powerfull, it can manage the rocks and kelp while not being too overgunned for beach work. Both rods are lovely to cast and will put a big lead and bait a long long way without tiring you out from constant casting and retrieving
