whats the best month for cod fishing over in geordieland, its got to be october over here in cumbria and it seems a long, long time ago now.
the season set off like a real un but weather conditions and my favourite mark getting gill netted to ****didnt help matters and its been hard work since.

i reckon in my opinion mate its november - january, but as i am sure your aware theres not a great deal of fish around now, never know in about 20 yrs time with global warming we could be catching barracuda off the piers and boats
now that would be something !!!!!!!!!!!

hI TZ500, I find that jan is usually one of the best months for the cod, but there are plenty times when the sea comes away you can catch cod in the winter months. if it\'s just sport then july flies & plugs for bass, float for pollack, mackeral & wrasse. and if you still crave cod head north amongst the kelp for some \' ginger toms \' jim by the way is that TZ YAM :D :D

Hit tz500, you did ask which month was best over our side, i would say JULY because you can wander up and down the coast at first light with a few plugs & flies for the bass, or you float with sandeel or rag for pollack & mackerel. if your after \' ginger toms\' just head a wee bit north. yea july roll on great fun. jim by the way is that TZ YAM

Where are some good marks for fly and plugging for bass. Tried a few plugs at Cullernose last year but no luck. Didn\'t put in many hours though.

speaking for the rocks of south tyneside I personally think it peaks
in november then you start scratching for the odd one (cod )
then again ive had some good catches in the late summer months

if i can get a couple of fish jan/feb/march in a session thats not bad to me any mores a bonus.saying that april and may fished really well last year i had 5 for 20lb mid april.
