big beach, south shields

Didnt make it out over the weekend so headed out for a few casts down the big beach at south shields, fished the whole next to trowel rocks as the tide was going out not much happening there. The was a few young lads on the rock got themselfs a nice Coalie. As low water aproched i moved about 100 yards up the beach, bites started half an hour before low water. Hooked into my first fish but lost it on the way in, am guessing it was top hooked on my 1/0 6/0 pennel, a short while later i got the slightest of knocks, waited and waited but the rod never budged, was just about to put the rod back inthe stand when i felt i knock again resulting in a nice 2lber next cast got a good knock lost that one on the way in to might nave to use bigger top hooks baited up for my last cast, trying to get one for our lass's tea, reel jammed, crack off, packed up and went home! canny night for it like aint been out for about 3 weeks now.

baits were rag and lug.

Well done phill least you manged something, when im using a pulley pennel rig with a 6/0 on the botttom the top hook i wont go under a 4/0.

yeah i think i might try thay in the future. both times when i lost fish my 1/0 hook had been pulled right to the top of my pully rig !

bad luck on the losses, i use flexi tube over my top hook to keep it in place, may be worth trying and see if those top hookups stay connected

ill be out alot soon mate as we have accepted a house in south shields not far from tyne doc metro station so if your up for it once the move goes through u can introduce me to the local tackle shop lol and the local marks lol

aye it was bad, well saying that 5th gear didnt work, it needs a new air mass sensor to sort the ignition out but apart from that it was cool, i meen come on it did 80 in forth lol. Anyhoo P reg WV polo for sale any offers !!!
