Sad to hear of the passing of Billy Brown last thursday night.:(:(:(

For those of you that didn't know him, he was the chap who built rods for the likes of Fraser's & I.D. Fishing, so if you've had a rod built there you'll at least be familiar with his work. I was in Fraser's in W/Bay today and they've started a collection bucket for a memorial plaque, so if you haven't been in for a while (as the fishing's so pants right now!) maybe pop by to drop in a few bob.

My condolences go out to his family - R.I.P Billy.

Gary :)

He did his magic on my Conoflex...the one you thought was a zippy Gary

I'll be in the shop tomorrow afternoon - be sure to put some money in the pot.

Condolences to the family

Sad news!

I didn't know the bloke but heard about his work (from Jim I think).

Condolences to his family & friends.

That is so sad, what a really nice man he was. I don't think I have ever heard anyone say a wrong word about him. I met him at the Alcan beach quite a few years ago, we walked off together and just happened to bump into each other the very next time we both fished. We swapped numbers and have been friends ever since. He has done a couple of rods for me too.

I hadn't seen him for a while due to not being able to fish much now, I bumped him a couple of times a few months ago in Frazer's and spoke to him on the phone. He really will be missed, R.I.P Billy, you won't be forgotten mate.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Jim.

Hopefully we can laugh in the face of terrible news, and hopefully I haven't got my Billy's mixed up - you are definetly up for a 15% discount now TC :)

Please remove if deemed to be in bad taste mods, no offence intended.

If it's not the Billy I know and have just written about, then (with all respect to the other Billy and his family), I've just been typing with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart for somebody I didn't know.

Hi guys, the Billy that passed away last week was the chap who built rods from his home in Blyth for many of the local tackle shops - I think some are thinking of Billy's in N. Shields (not the same fella). Just as helpful to many and a helluva chukker by all accounts, I was in Fraser's one time complaining about leader losses & Billy showed me the Bimini twist knot, tied me up one to take home for comparison to my own efforts and consequently saved me a lot of lost gear. Both Billy's top blokes!

Gary :)

Thankyou for putting me straight Gary (it is "Gary" isn't it ) - hope I haven't got THAT wrong aswell.

As stated, sincere apologies and condolences to Billys family and friends.

The man was a ledend very well liked and loved by many
north east anglers, if he did not know the answer to a
question then there was no answer for it.
His work is and always will be the best and i for one have
had many rod done by Billy, the latest one is a custom
sonik sk4 that was only finished 7 weeks ago.
Billy's wife is a lovely woman & always speaks to you as if you
were a member of the familly and she can make one cracking
pot of tea when you were wating for billy to finish a rod or
print off a new photo that he a taken.

I know that he had just been in hospital for a op on his
leg/knee but he seemed to be ok the last time i was round
at his house.

My deepest sympathy go's out to his wife and family
as he will be very sadly missed.
