you wont be able to use a boat rod for fly fishing at all, the fly line wont load your rod

haways the lads, im daft, but notd that dafti think the 5ft broom handle rod will be fine but couple it with an 18" scarborough and 100lb line as a minimum. I thing to be able to "load" the rod you will need an 1lb pirk but make sure it is dull lead so not to spook the fish with the flash as it flies over head. you will then need 2 droppers above the pirk of 8/0 hokais in various colours, ensure your retrieve is made to mimic an injured mermaid. Full hard hat and high vis coat is recomended at all times when pirk casting.
best regards

Thought the broom handle had to be at least eight foot or is that just the pike version![]()

Dont bother with a boat rod for fluff chucking its too hard going, just use one of them hand cast bait nets they are about £45, chuck it over rising fish and you will get a nice bag but it is bets to pay for a sporting ticket so be carefull when taken them out the net and putting them back.

what on earth are you talking about? is this the method you use![]()
No, i tow my boat to the lake and use a 40ft gill net, to much hard work doing it by hand....you should of known that.
