alright lads, was wondering what you prefer/think about greys apollo m1 or mk2,which do you prefer, will be using it for winter beach or rock fishing, which would hold up best, any info appreciated, cheers
I've had both mate and the mk1 is the best one, wish I never sold mine really, sold the mk2 as I just couldn't get away with it. Mk1 will handle the rock marks easy m8.
I use an apollo Mk 1 14 ft, I had it rebuilt by Allan (primo man on here) and its a beauty!
It's nice and stiff but not a ball breaker, the tip sits nice in the tide / wind, but gives great bite detection. I landed a 12.5lb cod using it in January, no dramas at all.
In fact I'm searching for another one!
Mk 1 better rod in my opinion had mine stolen out of shed insurance replaced it with mk 2 even after 4 or 5 years using mk 2 still miss me mk 1.
Mk 2 good rod but personally preferred mk 1.
Appollo extreme (mk 3) will be me next rod eventually as can't go wrong with them all for the rough stuff
Different rods suit different people so what a prefer might be different 2 u ?
cheers lads,a friend of mine uses mk2,ive heard contrasting stories on them both,my last rod was AFAW rock and im now using conoflex scorpion sport but i think i might take your advice and invest in a mk1,
def the mk1 mate the mk 2 is not a pathch on mk1 the mk 2 soften up after a while but then again my opinion lol if u were looking to buy either for heavy groung get ur self a rt axcellerator 100 notes pair it with a slosh 30 nothing will stop u lol

The mk3 has been out around 3-4years and imo betters the mk1 in every respect. It has all the good points of the mk1 but is slimmer, lighter and has slightly more power in the middle and butt, more importantly it has lots of feel and very good bite detection.
Ive cast but never fished the newer 13ft extreme, i wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised at how well it cast.

I'd agree with pretty much everything said except I've never tried the MkIV versions so don't know how they compare. Still like my old Mk 1 though, just doesn't get out much these days.
