I like to use black amnesia snoods ssp walkway etc do you think the colour matters except in clear water

Yes I personally do. Am not a fan of the black amnesia, use the clear a lot in 20,30 and 40lb versions. When I haven't got maxima chameleon. The black is totally different, doesn't knot well at all and find it very string like, very similar to F1 black.
Was in Scotland near Arbroath, using 40lb black for my snoods and people either side of me catching. I couldn't buy a bite, after a hour of this I changed from black to clear and first cast into a fish! Could just be coincidence but has put it in the back of my mind from then on. The clear and black are almost totally different lines.

Have used everything from clear to bright fluorescent orange/yellow line when fishing both the river and shore for codling and never found any differance

i agree that they are totally different lines .i was going to try red or green but i suppose you just use what you have confidence in

most cod fishing is done at night or in rough seas so the water will be dirty you would not see the line and most fish have not seen line before so they wont be frightend i have used yellow amnesa in the summer on clear water and i still caught

in the 60s when gear was not as sophicated anglers used cutty hunk and corelene and caught fish

Same here. 30lb black Amnesia, caught plenty of fish and I fished for 20 years in the clear waters of the Solent for Bass, Plaice etc...

Black amnesia is the best I have used in 40lb but in the river 40lb is a bit much red amnesia in 12lb is good line
