Blackhall, turn left at chip shop

Fished the picnic area at blackhall,(any body tell me the local name for this spot) turn left at the Chip shop, access blocked to cliff top car park, so parked in Picnic area and "walked".Used feathers and foil, but no Mackeral,11.00 am till 2.00pm,nowt.Maybe another week before they come here.

left of the picnic area the road leading to the beach is called dead man's and left of the car park on the cliff top is called the chair good in the winter months

Like most of blackhall rocks its seen its day used to be good and does still through a decent fish out but unless it was on my door step i wouldnt fish it.

hi welcome to the forum which hetton you at south hetton or were i lived best part of my life hetton -le-hole.

as for blackhall marks you past possibly the best shot in the north east hawthorn point bit of a hike but very productive. just a thought

John R, can you give me more info on the Hawthorn mark, i.e. how to get to it, what bait to use, best tides to fish. I was born at South Hetton and moved to Hetton 40 years ago.Looking for a mark that is easy accessable by car ,, and not too much of a march with the gear. Red light At Headlands has been suggested, but cuuldnt find it,hopeless at directions.

hi unless you dont mind the hike hawthorn point is not for you. you park at noses point north end of the blast beach and walk south along the top.

good winter mark for cod codling yting all the popular cod baits work here best on a north westerly swell .

as far as i know and what i used to do was park on the grass verge next to roundabout over looking the blast beach been a while since i have been round this area but got plenty of pals who fish it.

realy to get to it just follow the path on top of cliff top overlooking the blast beach till you get to the furthest south point you can see along blast beach.the main mark you used to fish has been washed away by the storms but there is also the south point.

it is a hell of a shot but more know for winter fishing if i had some photos i would put for you but i havnt, you may be able to see marks to fish on google maps or someone may put some pics up for you hopefully.

further you cast out less tackle you loose and puts you in more of a tide run but realy i would leave this mark alone till late october.

sounds to me your an out of the car fisherman , in that case id suggest joining seaham club ,so you can fish the pier , or fish seaham hall beach or hendon wall . hawthorn point isnt easy to get down to or up from by foot . the red light by the way is just along from the heugh pier and actually has a green light , the red light is on the otherside of the river . :D:D

Noses point is a great mark to fish and its about 100 yds flat walk to the edge of tbe cliff can be a bit tackle hungry but great shot in the winter
