Blank at Roker Pier

Tried my luck for a couple of hours on sunday 1st of may for the 11am high tide aaaand naff all.
On the plus side I saw a seal messing about in the water and an RNLI boat rescue a coble which appaeared to have difficulty with the crap weather.
Fella on the end of the pier said he'd only had a small flattie (and he looked alot more proffesional than me!).

Ah whey hoping theirs some better days ahead this year.

Anyone had any luck off Roker Pier recently?

Was there a few weeks ago and couldn't stop catching flatties mate! Maybe 15 in 1.5-2hrs. On rag.

Really?? Having said thst I'm using 2 hook flappers with tagworm/mackerel tip/cocktail.
Need "bling" type rigs for flatties don't? Am I using a winter rig instead of a spring/summer one?

Nah mate. Don't need the bling. I use two hook flappers or wishbone rigs this time of year. Rag or maccy bits are fine. Fish the area on the left as you walk up before you get to the bunker. Maybe the 40/50yds up to the bunker seaward side and you can't get moved for dabs this time of year
