Bloody computers!

So there I was happily reading the Nesa forums on Monday night, when inexplicably my computer switched itself off? I switched it back on, only to have it switch itself back off again..............so frustrating !

Took it to the repair shop on Tuesday.............bad news................the hard drive is gubbed...............what's that about, it's only 15 months old!?:mad:

Upshot is I am £90 lighter, the cost of 3 charters, a week before our holiday in Hartlepool :(:(

I hate technology, feel a bit like this :

foar 90 quid sorry you got robbed mate. dnt get computers fixed at pc world or any other big companys if you did. they charge an absolute bomb just for taking a look at it and charge you full wack for any parts. take it down to a small pc shop next time and ask for second hand parts probably could have got it done for less than half that.

i'd think it's more "gubbed" with the amount of gentlemen's entertainment stored on it..:D:D:D:D:D

although the croc pics probably sent it over the edge.....;)

Haha, if only Rob. As Lynn uses this too, I don't think I could get away with any gentlemen's entertainment.................unfortunately :)

I did take it to a small PC shop. I think a 160 gigabyte (or whatever) hard drive, reformatting, XPwindows and a year's Norton security is pretty good for £90. However I am no expert....................and hopefully there will be no next time :)

90 quid for hard drive is terrible you can pick up 500gb hard drives dirt cheap on ebuyer.com easy enough to install aswel.

Well I looked on Ebay and 160gb from reputable companies are circa £50, so for an extra £40 I got it formatted (which I know hehaw about), a year's Norton security and WindowsXP, fair enough I think.

It's like me saying paying £300 for a rod or £200 for a reel is being robbed......each to their own :)

OMG, 160gb? You could pick up a 1tb one for half of that!

Might be to someone not blessed with your wealthiness mate.:D

I am certainly not blessed with wealthiness Gordon. Just at a bit of a loss to understand why some are so keen to come on and rubbish what I paid?

I mean, if they really thought I had been robbed why not PM me with advice, rather than try to dish me publicly?

This thread was not meant to turn out like this. I was just having a wee moan at paying out for something I had not anticipated to pay a week before my holiday.

Wish I hadn't bothered now! :)

I don't think it's intended critisism to you personaly mate, it's just that when a fellow member may not have got the best deal or other members know better through experience they like to post it so others are aware, their just trying to be helpful really, I think yer getting paranoid over nowt honestly mate. In my post I was just having a laugh when I mentioned yer wealth hence the smiley:(
