Took a 6oz gripper in the face before and from experience, it's not nice. Got snagged about 30 yards out and yanked and yanked....snag moved a couple of feet and snagged again. Thought, right it's nearly there and yanked hard again....For a second there was absolute silence...I thought this is gonna hit me, so I ducked...Smack full on in the forehead. I dropped like a sack of spuds, dazed and with a rapidly forming egg. Sat and thought for a few minutes how bad it might be.....No blood so continued to fish. Needless to say, if I 'm ever snagged now I never rive at it and simply lower the rod tip and walk back slowly!
Still I think if I hadn't ducked and took it in the face, I may have taken it full in the crown jewels!
lol i know its not funny but still i cant help but laugh ive been lucky a couple of times when its been in snags and the weight at come loose and shot out of the water but not once has it hit me and i dont intend on letting it lol
only thing it could be was distance i would guess some of these still water carp lakes are massive, coupled with the use of relatively heavy line needs a decent weight.
aye good point, I live within a stones throw of killy lakes and I reckon I'd need a good chuck with a 3oz lead to get anywhere near the middle of the big one with me spinning gear and 15lb mono if there was a breeze
