Bloody shocking

alright then when i say 3 days a week, your allowed 3 days fishing a week, maximum 2 hauls a day, shoot the net then your allowed to trawl a max of 6 hours each trawl,so that means max 12 hours fishing a day then back to port, what they catch that is in size gets weighed in and they get payed for.

to keep there records up to date, put somthing like a tacograph or somthing like that on the winch {as the winch is a must have for trawling}then they know when the net was shot and when it was hauled,or somewhere like that, then if there tacograph aint up to date a very heavy fine is given {if caught trying to fiddle with it to get a extra bit of trawl time} if you know what i mean

sounds like it would work to me

That sounds a lot better but heavier policing may be the way forward even if something like this was introduced. I've seen buckets full of flatties just floating around newbiggin bay which were dumped by boats. If a boat has fulfilled it's quota why doesn't it stop fishing?

One word {Money}allways boils down to that cant imagine doing it for the love of being in stormy seas all week lol

Because the main quota is for cod ,whiting and haddock, which still means the boats can fish for other species. For under 10 metre vessels there is a 2 ton per month quota on prawns.
If boats reach there quota they can also buy portions of another boats quota.

the govenments the issue, like in everything else they will bend over to be shafted by none nationals, frightened to upset europe, then the fishing fleet have them by the balls for some reason, so what will it take, the govenment to impound trawlers that are abusing the system, not fines but sink the bloody boats, if we dont pay our road fund then the police are at liberty to impound the car even crush it, someone caught dealing drugs gets all thier belongings taken that could have been provided by thier dealing, selling fags or booze from abroad and your going to get shafted good style, run your wagon on red and you chance loosing your livelyhood ah hang on theres the crux of the matter, none national fishing fleet and the uk trawler fleet aint taking money from the govenment
one thing i cant understand in this, if the fishing game is not making money why do they still do it, i know if i had a buisiness that was giving very poor returns or costing me i would declare myself bankrupt

NOT ONCE have the recommendations of truly independent scientists who have been calling for reduced quotas (Not because they like cuddling fish but because in their opinion these figures are necessary to ensure the mere short term SURVIVAL of certain fish) been taken on board and agreed with. The industry always has to argue the toss in the face of overwhelming evidence. It's like a doctor telling you your mother has cancer and will die if you do not give her 3 tablets a day and you insisting on your god given right to only give her 2. Gets my dander fair up

I agree with this. It would also create new habitat for the fish therefore giving something back to the sea after years of taking something from it.
