Blue marlin kilo spool

Time for today's SFQ!
Can anyone who uses the kilo spools of the marlin line tell me the diameter of the spool?
I only ask because I'm doing a slightly smaller version of Paul's line dispenser but don't have a big spool at the minute and want to make sure it will fit in.

Is it just the blue that is any good or is the clear and yellow the same?
Asked this before but no-one has given an answer.

Uk hooks personally think it's over rated.

Thought a man of your calibre would of liked the blue marlin lol
Tbh I've tried a lot of mono's(rig bodies)over the yrs,the blue marlin comes out on top for me,so supple n knots so easy(no kinking etc)very very strong.A lot of other brands r wiry n don't knot so good imo....When I'm ready(used all my mainline mono's up)I'm gunner give the .35mm a shot,so smooth n supple,i really like the gear:cool:

Just find for the price there is better out there mate. It does tie a good knot but so does many others I think it's strong but once stretched i found it snapped. Also didn't seem to have very good abrasion in the really rocks stuff. But just my findings.

Everyone seems to fav the blue, ray j:)
I know with amnesia, the clear is wiry but the black is the dogs b*****s,may be the same with the marlin:confused:.
Used to like the varivas rig body, but found it stretched terrible, then had no abrasion resistance:(.Regards your thoughts mr hunter, fairplay buddy,iv'e only used it on clean/mxd ground but found it xcellent for the ground I fish:)
Used to use ultima rig body, now thay was really strong, hardcore infact:D

Ultima powerflex clear in 80lb cant beat it for strength versus diameter and abrasion resistance. 50lb maxima for hooklengths.

Also the 70lb Powerflex can take some serious stick as a shock leader.

Wiry lines are often much better for abrasion resistance. Some of the fluros are very stiff but great for stopping tangles.
As for knots a good old grinner works on most lines including braid.

Never tried it m8,heard it b4 that it has a good rep, tink some lads use it in the lower strains for rock work 35lbish,like u say strong gear:)
Cheers pighunter:cool:

Agree chukka,I used to use powerflex hi viz orange in tapered but gone on to asso's version find it nice n reliable, been using the 70lb tapered gear, very very similar to the ultima:cool:

Used the ultima on the field and found it brilliant. Little stretch and you have the ultimate confidence it isn't going to part in the middle of a big chuck on when you have people around. The same cant be said for suffix crap. The 80 breaks far too easily. Don't know how it was ever endorsed by the uksf at one time.

Can't really comment on blue marlin but have no reason to even try it.

Cheers for all the replies!
I have to find and alternative to my dwindling supply of Ultima Powerflex.
Can only seem to find it in 50m spools now!
