Fished tide up font of huts Blyth Beach 4pm and packed in at 7.45pm due to prior arrangement ,,,,first sea trip for over 20 years..... mussel lug macky....result 1 coalie about 1/2 lb. lip hooked and returned plus1 little hard back (just as I was feel chuffed at lack of crab activity). a bit of casting practice needed tho for the beach as only getting about 80 yds at a push... but not blankin a bonus.

If you want to keep all your bait on, 80 yards is quite far enough.

Cheers Doc, To be fair Im very lucky to clear the surf line at my age.... On the tackle front my pound shop L.E.D head light performed a treat . bright as a owt and totally undimmed afer 2 1/2 hrs uniterupted use with 3 pound shop AAA batteries. remarkable.

Well done on the coley m8 80 yards will get you among the fish on blyth beach m8 especially when the seas away or even a moderate sea just fish the gullies between the sand bars

many thanks B/S any advice is much appreciated. ill have a reccy at low tide as I was just chuckin in hope in reality. Is fishing low tide a better bet from Blyth/ Seaton Sluice beaches.

I always find blyth beach fishes best first few ours down from high and first 3 up from low more so the latter especially in darkness

Go down during the day and see where the gullies and sand banks are best to fish them med to big tides 2hrs either side of low during darkness when the seas running, fresh lugworm being the prime bait also try tipping off with a bit razor, clam or squid sometimes a bit white bait can make all the differance.

Thanks Bandit...... Ill certainly take notice of your advice.....tho digging lugworm on beaches within striking distance very much against the law now I've read. I wont ask where they are availble to be dug..lol ...

As a kid in the fifties on holiday at Cresswell . I remember there were thousands of blow lug casts all over the beach at low tide. Very lucky to see any now. Gone decades ago.
