Might be worth a chuck for flats and whitings (if they're there) but don't expect any codlings until the sea comes away again. You could try around the back of the farm / Meggies Burn ways - there's a gully behind the sandbar so you don't need big chucks. There's also sometimes a nice hole down the south end in front of the Astley, but I haven't looked recently. Also sometimes worth a chuck at the north end - park up by the bandstand and fish anywhere from there down to the groynes - but it's usually a bit shallower so bigger chucks here can often pay off. Lug, rag, mackerel & maybe a bit of crab should do the business.
