Got there about 10pm fridayday nite. Few half pound codling. Major reel problems, birdsnest and backlash pretty much every cast. One of those nites where you just want to cry at your reel.
Anyway few Rockling small colie etc. We where both hacked off due to the utter idiots on the peir, the end was swamped with kids and adults swearing all nite. The rubbish was everywhere. Everything that they didnt use eg pizza box etc, where just flung into the water.
What really ticks me off is they caught a fair few fish......ALL UNDERSIZE. codling 1/4 pound, flats the size of a babys hand. they kept the lot. Then when bord of fishing the cut there fish up to throw at each other.
Spoilt the whole trip.......

blyth peir

Hi, i allso agree, the peir is every ones peir and allsorts of peopple use it, mainly for fishing, and the language , rubbish, including excriment! is disgusting, if you got tto go you got to go, taking a dump off the peirs fine, but throwing all sausage rolls and packaging, pizza boxes and beer cans is terible, i think even if a few bins were placed on the peir that it wouldent even make a menze, the only current option i can think of is an offence!

i know who you are talking about because i was fishing beside them on the end. they seemed canny and i seen them put most mackerel and flatys back while i was there alough they shouldnt be littering :(

I know what you mean about the pier mate. I hadnt fished Blyth Pier for over twenty years but last year I thought I would give it a go for the mackerel. Came home after about 20 minutes due to some idiots kicking mackerel about and being drunk and chucking cans in the sea and generally making me feel a bit unsettled:mad:
I stick to fishing nice empty beaches and rocks from now.

Every single time I go to the piers - doesn't seem to matter which one I always find mindless d*ckh*ads and thugs who don't seem to know the first thing about fishing or or what a "size" fish is.
9 out 10 times me and my mate put size fish back unless we want them for the table, or in the summer a dozen or so mackerel for bait and the table.

At this rate Blyth and South shields pier will be shut to anglers for good!

:(:(

That's why I took up kayak fishing so don't have to put up with these idiots, plus the catch rates increase , had 15 mackeral just off the pier today, don't think much was taken from pier whilst I was there

I used to enjoy the pier in autumn and winter though. I think the idiots dont go out when it starts getting cold, probably too soft! Looking forward to some whiting fishing off the pier in autumn.

Totally agree. I used to enjoy targetting the summer species from the piers, but don't even bother now. Shame, but its just not worth the hastle.
