Blyth pier 241108

Hahahahaha I don't know about gospel but on average I reckon you will catch more fish with Lugworm than with Ragworm mate.

Jim.

Any bait works well if fish are there... i believe rag is best for me... as i have used lug up there and not much sucess then using rag..;) strange i know//

You are dead right Richy, I don't think anyone will or could argue with that one lol. Try giving them a choice when they are not jumping on the hook though, the Lug would win most times over the Rag I would say.

We fished there one night and had been let down for Lugworm, the pier was full of fish and we had one between us that had been just lip hooked on the Ragworm. As for Blyth beach, I simply would not fish it without Lugworm if I was after Cod.

Jim.

When I'm fishing Blyth (pier or beach) I tend to stick with ragworm in the summer months (good for bass & flatties etc) & lugworm in the winter months. This time of year I'm also using crab & mussel as well, so I like to give 'em a choice - one hook straight lugworm, one hook mussel & crab. When the beach is fishing well (in the depths of winter) I usually rely on 2 hooks of lug & find this generally outfishes everything else. :)

I wouldn't change any of that g-force, I tended not to fish the pier in the summer months as there were usually too many people fishing for Mackerel which resulted in lots of tangles with spinners lol.

If I was to fish the beach for Bass I would definately use Ragworm but I have caught quite a few Bass on baits meant for Cod but usually just schoolies. Cambois beach is pretty much the same, I have had some cracking sessions on there too for both Bass and Codling again sometimes fishing VERY close to the shore.

I'd love to try Blyth Pier for Cod...but I'm put off it by the fact that the mere mention of C.O.D. and it becomes stupidly overcrowded - same as in the summer months for M.A.C.K.E.R.E.L.

Couple that with an abundance of people who haven't got a clue about fishing and are a danger to themselves and those around them...mate at work said he was shoulder to shoulder with someone using a 50lb Boat rod the other day :o:(

Spoke to a mate of mine this morning he fished the pier from 1am this morning till about 9am trying to avoid the hoardes!! him and his mate had two fish each both about the pound, pound and a half stamp using all the best baits whites, yellow tails etc etc.. a lad came on about 6am and got one he reckons about 8lb just down from the bend ..on ragworm!!.. well thats blyth pier for you!! he says the seas massive but the swells are running down towards sluice leaving it pretty flat round the pier ..not much caught after that only a couple of small ones.

I'm picking some lug and rag up at 3.30 then might head down to the pier or the beach. dunno yet, see how the sea is when i get there. might even give whitley beach a shot.

Just got a bit of lug myself, so if I can get some crab defrosted I think I'll try the pier this evening - think I'll also take my waders in case the beach looks a better shot. Should be some fish somewhere...:o

Just come off the pier myself, nothing doing there except the odd whiting (none caught by me I might add). I would say the beach is the best bet for tonight.

5150 - That woman started running after my car, very scary :o

I fished the pier as well today 1-30pm till 6pm i was in the middle from the bend to the end still a few good size whiteing being caught, i got nothing. Out again the morn not sure where but it wont be the pier. Still a good sea over at the north side.

john :)

fished the pier meself aswell today with me mara, from about 10;30 till 4. just inside the bend. we managed 7 size whities and a dinky little tommy(plus loads of crab) i kept 2 for me tea(lovely they were and nee worms in them:D)as they were deeply hooked. gadgee just up from the bend seemed to be pulling in size whities virtually every cast. he only fished a couple of hours, couldn't handle the excitement!!!!!:o (his words) distinct lack of old bucket mouth tho', everyone we spoke to said 'should o been here sat.....or, sunda was magic' etc etc, story of my life.

bait was rag, razor, macky and mussel.

and the gadgee was using frozen black and rag cocktails

Thx lads for the reports of blyth pier as am going up there this thursday night but not the blyth side might give cambios side atry.. see if there's any codling or coalies kicking around as i liked the session i had the other week loved the action!!:D
