Once again £10 drop net with an added couple of leads tied into the bottom to incease the control of the net when moving the fish into it.

Dont let Alan Charlton see this thread mind...he kick your ass :)

We here these things all the time people hooking into good fish on peirs only to loose them on the lifting up the side the next time take a drop net ,unlucky on not landing it give your self a chance get a drop net

Looks like the wind's going to be strong SSE thurs/fri before coming round SW sat, so might well get myself down tomorrow or fri to drown a few worms. Bad luck on dropping the fish mate - mind you it's only a 400yd walk to the beach! :)

i bout a drop net the day after i lifeted my personal best of 12lb up the top side of the huegh but since ive bought it i have never once had any use for it(maybe a waste of money at the time but will come in handy one day)

Bad luck Andy, I've been lucky over the years when fishing Blyth and Roker pier's. Always said I would buy a drop net and then thought, just another item to have to carry with me and never bothered. I walked on to Blyth pier with a couple of lads one night that were carrying a drop net and they said if I needed it just to shout. I caught a good Cod that night on the top hook of my pennel, as the fish was thrashing about, the bottom hook caught on the wooden beams at the bottom and I could'nt shift it. The lad next to me shouted of the two lads and they came down and retrieved my fish for me. After thanking them I swore to myself that I would definately get a drop net. Did I, did I hell lol. I decided again that it was just another unneccessary item to lug around lol, I bet most of us have said the same.

i thought that a few times just more to carry about but after only just getting my p/b up on the huegh i decided to buy one but ive never taken it out with one its just lyin in the garage collecting dust lol

Better luck next time mate.As Alan said if you had walked it back along the pier to the beach you would have stood a chance - but in the heat of battle/overexcited !!!! We have all taken the wrong option at some time. I know I have, but it should be a lesson learnt.

Do not own a drop net myself as do not fish the piers on this coast. If I did I would concider buying one.

Hope you get a good one on soon.Tight lines

John

I have took a drop net last two times fishing and caught nowt decent. Its not a problem to take it i just put it on the trolley with all my other sh--e.

You can bet the day i leave the net will be the day i get my first in a lifetime doubler.

Mick.

A couple of lads I met have made grappling type hooks and use that to hook any decent fish down the side of a pier. helped me out a pickle before.

unlucky on the fish anyway, know just how you feel. I lost a decent fish on there last year walking it back to shore. got the bugger nearly there when it got stuck in the legs .
