For fear of sounding like Henda11.....(who just loves his Macky !!)

Has anyone been down in the last week or so since it's been raining? Are they catching?

I fancy going over on wednesday/thursday to do some spinning...but if it's not worth it i will prob try the River again...

Saying that I could always look outside the envelope and head up the coast to a rock mark?

roker fished crap today. went down first light and only got 5 macky. had a walk along roker about 4pm and very little coming in, i think there was only 3 or 4 macky caught all afternoon. there is a hell of a lot of fresh water coming down the rivers turning the water chocolate brown which might account for the lack of action. the best bet for macky sport in the next few days maybe on the rock marks away from the estuarys unless the water clears up.

I know that the pier last night at about 5 pm was almost empty.
But there was a hell of a lot of people on bikes, mopeds etc heading that way.
Lets face it,school holidays are here soon so get it while you can.

went down yesterday Great One, 6 30 am back home 9 30 am took 12 mackerel and 1 coalie about 2&1/2lb . I was the only one fishing the pier ( S/S ). As Micky was saying there was a lot of fresh coming down (good for the game fish) but not too good for the mackerel. I was casting to the ebbing tide at the seaward side of the blocks.

I'm heading to Blyth again tomorrow night - but I'm gonna take the big rod as well this time....

Anyone got any tips for bottom fishing @ Blyth Pier? Should I target flatties with small hooks, or should I lob out a big bait to see if anything fancies it?

Lob a bait out towards the tomms (rocks leading from groin-like jetty up to light in middle of river. There's a few cod been caught from there in the past couple of weeks. Best with crab. Not many but there's some there.

Big bait it is then - cheers - may have to compromise with fresh mackerel though...got no crab... :)
