Anyone else spot this one: Riviera touch may come to Blyth - ChronicleLive

Love to know how they are going to manage to blow an average of £4000 each on some wooden huts. But more to the point I'd love to take bets on how long it'll take the local mutants and crack heads to either burn them to the ground or break into them for somewhere to shoot their veins full of brain rot.

Yeah i saw it and thought the same.
Even if that don't happen as always its the people with the cash that will own them.
I do hope that the council will ensure that a percentage of them will be " affordable" as they do with housing.

Planning to rent them out according to the article. Could maybe understand the idea if the caravan park was still there to attract people on holiday, but it's gone and even though I live in Blyth I wouldn't see the place as somewhere that would attract holiday makers in this day and age.

I don't know,it has some great beaches and country side plus some history around it.
I have often met holiday makers when fishing the river in the summer.
But the huts would be for locals i would say and there is just not the interest i feel.

£100,000 on Beach Huts that will no doubt be trashed within months....better things to spend tax payers money on surely - like affordable housing, incentives to work, better schools, safer streets, more bobbies, nurses, better hospitals...the list quite literally goes on

I hope it does happen but agree with all your comments.
There is "on" "off" rumours of a Marina type development at Blyth, not exactly affordable housing but should improve the look of the area......Blyth was never a visitor attraction it was a industrial town so change will take time.
Whitley Bay was a big attraction a few years back, the place is a disgrace now, sooner they sort it the better

Now if you are going to get silly and think councils are logical you can just go stand in the corner young...ish man
