Boat fishing on Tyne

Anybody ever fished from a boat on the lower reaches around Newburn/Blaydon.
Spoke to Environment agency and said its ok as long as you have a rod license. This was coarse fishing only and they weren't forthcoming about trout.
Anybody any idea regarding fishing rights or does this just apply to the banks?
Have a boat on the Tyne and mainly do sea fishing but fancied giving the Dace etc a bash next summer.

i would amagine if fishing for any sort of freshwater fish a rod licence would be needed if fishing bank or on a boat,to be honest it wouldnt be worth the risk not having a licence as you get a canny fine and they can even conviscate {if spelt like that} your gear,i do alot of coarse fishing in the warmer months so i always get a full licence to cover me even when im fishing for coarse fish from a small boat or bank

Thats what I checked with the Evironment agency for. Fishing for sea fish, cod, flounders etc you don't need a license even as far up as Newburn. But coarse fish you do. What they couldn't answer was did the fishing rights owners own the whole river or just the banks. I always thought it was half way across.

I think if you read your licence it says something like;
You have the right to fish in any WATER;
You then need land owners permission to fish off the bank.
I hope that helps:yltype:
