Hi this might be in wrong place but just wondering if there's been much gettin cought on the boats out of sunderland as I'm goin out for the 1st time ever on Saturday

Hope you have sea legs matey.I went out once and after a what felt like a world tsunami I was deposited chest high in salt wick bay with my late father who's mate mate steered us close to the shore that he dare.if I'd have had a shotgun on board I'd have blown my head off.if the Gestapo had a injection of seasickness or liquid toothache they would have been no need for any other torture.make sure that you take some medication and for f!!!s sake make sure you keep one foot on the shore.bb:eek::eek::rolleyes:

Don't be put off by other people story's. Don't drink the night before take a sickness pill and have a few ginger biscuits throughout the day and you'll be fine. Plenty of food and drink whilst at sea and you should be okay

As David says, pay no attention to other folk's horror stories. I have never been sea sick in my life.

Have a great trip, I am sure you will love it.

you will enjoy the day out m8 sea leg tablets can help possible you will never need to use them. just go and catch a few nice fish nowt better than boat fishing.

Stugeron seem to be the only sickness tablet you can get at the moment. 2 before you set off and if needed take another whilst at sea. I take mine just as a precaution in wouldn't want to spend the day being sick

I have been out 3 times and 2 of them I have been bad but have been told a tablet the night before and as said off David ginger biscuits or ginger pop or take some root ginger don't no if it's an old woman's tale but quite a few people have told me the same so will be given this a go but u could be a natural mate enjoy and catch some big piggies

Just stay off the grog Mick and you will be fine!! My friend(who claims he doesn't get seasick) was sick first two trips. Taken Quells since then and has been fine.

In summary

dont drink the night before and get enough sleep
dress appropriately---not too hot, not too tight, not too cold

take one tbl in the eve and one before eating in the morning (I think Kwells is best)

no big breakfast, just a little snack

on board: dont sit in the cabin---ideally stay and stand outside---better balance

eat all the time little things like musli bars

try to talk and chat away, keep busy

dont sit down and tie lengthy rigs.

Seasickness is 90% confidence (or loss of). If you get seasick once, you have a huge chance to get seasick again---and if you have been on board a few times without seasickness, you gain confidence.

However---even after hundreds of trips without seasickness, I have seen guys getting sick and could not believe it! Nobody is safe.

That is why I stick to those (easy) routines and reccommend them for any allday fishing trips.

Fishing is very awkward this year with the weather and the mackerels. It seems the macks are eventually in.

I expect for your trip on Sunday, weather permitting, quite a good catch. The tides are OK and the wrecks should be well stocked with cod and ling jumping on a good fresh mackie bait.

Clarity is still a concern after the easterlies, because of suspended river mud and algae bloom, so I guess the skipper has to go at least 6 miles out to make shads work

Good advice and Norbert can, unlike me, spell Kwells! (Recommend and muesli, not so much :)) However I cannot spell anything in Afrikaans !

Personally though, I would not be seen dead on a charter, without first having my Full Scottish!
