next summer .

any advice would be great .

i was just passing over the tyne near B&Q on the A1 looking down to Newburn today....theres lots of boats moored there and i questioned how long it would take to get out to open ocean from there! lol as im sure the tyne has a 5 knot limit....so am i right thinking about 2 hours to get to sea?

I take no heed for speed limits my good man ,but im told its about 2hrs 45mins

and thats where i am at the momment hence the reason for making a move .

been onto rquays and its going to be for a craft of upto5.5mtr - £670 for 6 months or i think 380 for 3 months they do a payment plan which if im understanding it is +5% (just pay the whole lot iv got it under me bed )

sunderland was 600 on the chains
1015 ish on the pontoons i think .

so not that bad :o

you do have the added advantage of the security as well as it being 24hr .

any one got any comments on The royal quays looks good to me
close to the sea etc .

let me know your thoughts as im definately in the mood to move closer to the sea .:yltype:

I might moan about the lock and I might moan about the costs but for me Royal Quays every time
no tidal lock out or in always someone there on watch and a great set of people both the staff and other berthers .... go for it ! :D

norm

gawd nearly 3 hours to get to sea then the time to find a spot ...thats pretty much an 8 hour round trip without dropping any line! lol

seems pretty obvious to me ...if i could afford it RQ would be my next PORT of call :D

it is a long run from the newburn moorings, i went out a few times last year with my mate who has a boat there and one day coming back in it took nearly 3 hours as we hit the tide wrong. I dont think he is going to have his boat ready for this season:(

Think of the money you'll save on fuel not having to steam up and down the river. It's only two miles from the RQ lock to the sea.

Re speed limits on Tyne. Don't treat them lightly. Nowt worse than working on your boat painting etc and some prat goes blasting past and you nearly get tipped in the drink. And be aware that the penalties are steep. Guy from Derwenthaugh was fined £3000 for speeding and was warned he nearly got a custodial sentence.
ChronicleLive - News - Chronicle News - Speeder who waved the rules
didnt he get off with this .... walk the plank

to many rules these days ,im always sensible on the river :yltype:
