Anybody tell me whats concerned in buying a boat costs etc--berth costs.
I am disabled and would love a boat as I struggle fishing the beachs these days.It would have to be in a berth as I couldnt handle pulling and launching a portable one
hugh
Piece of string comes to mind , but if you buy something under 6 mtrs it will cost you around £1,000 a year to berth it in a marina , fuel and maintenance costs will depend on the type of boat you buy and how often and how far you go out . I use about £25 a trip in fuel and an annual engine service costs about £200. Being berthed it will need antifouled and cleaned once a year too , probably another few hundred quid.
It would be far cheaper to go on a charter boat if you just fancy fishing from a boat instead of the beach , the marina fees alone will get you nearly as many trips out on a charter as most folk do in their own boat.
If on the other hand , you want the excitement associated with taking a 16ft lump of plastic with a high powered engine on the back out onto the open seas in search of fish and adventure where you are solely responsible for the wellbeing of her and all who sail in her ........ a charter boat is a waste of money
