looking for a bit help regarding braid.......changed to braid and looking for a new boat rod

will any rod be ok for braid.? i.e. would the make of guides make a difference when using braid

just looking at rods and anything with "braid" on the rod seem to be much more expensive

any help appreciated...cheers

Any rod will do yes, just try not to use one with a roller tip eye. Those that are labelled braid tend to be a bit softer in order to cushion the angler when a fish runs etc, but it's a bit of a con. Braid is fine with normal rod rings.

So many boat anglers use braid now on all sorts of rods.

As already stated most rods are fine, i never use anything other than a 10-12lb class rod and landed everything from mackerel to Tope on it with no bother but do keep away from rollers as it tends to get down the sides and cause problems.

Loads of rods on the market and everyone will have there favs, i have a pair of Abu rods and had 1 of them 9 years now.

I use fireline braid (30lb) as i find it easy to do knots and untangle but as with the rods loads of braids and most about the same...try and stay away from the really bottom of the range, tried one before and it snapped before a 20lb snood line did everytime.

Just pop into a local tackle shop tell them what your wanting to use it for and they sort you out no bother, Frasers, Real Sport, ID to name a few will all do good service.

cheers for that lads ..much appreciated ,as being a beginner using braid (old school) need all the help i can get.

as for the new rod any good pointers on a decent 12/20 class rod ? been looking on fleabay but dont want a floppy stick..im looking to spend £30/£40 and it would be for general use .i.e. odd wrecking and inshore drifting...any help appreciated
