What knot can I use to tie braided line to the spool and will an Albright knot be okay for the leader also, does the braid need to be filled to the lip of the spool or just as much as I need, first time using braid when I'm out next so quite interested to see the difference. Thanks :)

from my own findings, arbor for the spool use a small square of duct tape to stick it to the spool to stop it spinning, wind it on with a decent amount of tension (use a paper towel or something to stop the burn)

dont go right to the lip leave a few mm from it, or you risk tons of braid flying through the loop as its dragged off the cone

Make sure you wet the spool before first cast, and have a few chucks to get it sitting right before u throw a weight n bait.

thanks mate I'll get spooled up now

I use braid (66lb Power Pro) on a Saltist 20 and a 525 Mag. I've got plenty of mono backing on the spool (no need to waste braid that ain't going to be used, 150 - 170 yards on the reel is plenty) and attach with a simple back to back uni-knot.

For my leader knot I use a Bimini in the braid and a Yucatan to attach to the leader, one of the strongest braid to leader knots out there and plenty easy enough to tie. Just remember with braid that it doesn't grip in the knot like mono does so as a rule of thumb use double the turns you would in mono - so if you'd use 6 turns for your mono Albright knot use 12 in a braid one or, if you want to stick with an Albright, use the Alberto knot instead (but I'd recommend the Bimini / Yucatan as stronger and easier)

Thanks for the advise and I used the Albright knot with nearly double the turns as you said just to be safe
