braid to braid leader

With my self imposed fishing ban until end of June, I thought I might get myself down to the field and practice my casting a bit.
One thing I have not tried using yet is braid as a leader and want to give it a bash.

Can anyone recommend a knot for braid-braid?

I will be using a braided mainline on a FS reel of 20lb / 30lb and I have stronger braid to use as leader of 65lb / 90lb in my box

Sorry Liam, but don't think you will last till the end of june with your self imposed ban, see you in a couple weeks on boat;)

Itching to get out Stevie, but really have to concentrate on work even on the weekends now until the big day comes end of June.
On the bright side caravan all paid for up at the Mull for 8 days from 27th June will all be worth the sacrifice when I'm on those rock ends.
Maybe see you mid-July...if I can get a space!

Any suggestions for the knot anyone?

Cheers for suggestions lads

I already use the Albright for leader knots, I just had concerns it would not pull together properly braid to braid due to the abrasion when pulling together.
I will try the Albright seen as though I am familiar with it and see how it goes

if you use an albright properly one length of line is just folded over.

this definately doesnt work with braid as it just pulls out.

Well thats a concern...it seems a lot of knots that work for mono do not work for braid. I know the uni, will have a look about on how to tie the grinner. Will still give the albright a bash as there seem to be a few versions of this knot, perhaps mine will work...save me learning a new knot.

Going to give the FS cannon a bash aswell, will let you know how it goes sounds like I might loose a couple of leaders ;)
Will be on the Heugh from about tea time Friday if anyone wants to join me for a casting session

the other type of leader knot commonly used with mono is a half hitch/ grinner.

just use 2 grinners back to back.

i live in hartlepool, if you want to pop around after work i can show you how to tie it.

Cheers mate, generous offer might take you up on that if you really dont mind.
Havent we met before, did you sell me your ultralite about January time?

I'll be finishing work and going to the Heugh for about 4 so could call by...no worries if your busy mind, I'm sure I can learn the knot after a few attempts!

that was my ultralight.

it would have to be tonight as i,m busy tomorow night and away fishing on friday.

i,ll pm you my number.

i use a figure of eight knot in leader then main braid line i do a spider hitch knot in then do my normal leader knot no probs at all i dont cut the ends off short though i cut them leaving about half an inch spare.

the albright most definitely does work with braid, using it now and had no problems at all,if you have problems maybe your not tying it correctly

I had a break in my 30ld braid some time ago when it chafed through on a rock edge. The loss was around 35 yards but I retrieved it and joined it with a simple blood knot.

It works well. It doesn't snag on the reel even though it's way down on the spool, and doesn't impair casting ability either.

More importantly it has held well with a good strength to it when hauling on a snagged lead.

Perhaps the easiest knot you can think of. too.

There are at least 3 ways I know of tying the Albright...

Chinese braid came this morning, so plenty of cheap stuff to practice with, I'll make a post on Saturday which one I found best.
