i use whiplash 20lb for my spinning, had no issues with it. Landed pollock to 6lb, great for distance with 1oz spinners for the mackerel too.

Alreet mate, last year I used 30lb braid with a 60lb mono shock and had no problems with it. This year I'm trying my 30lb braid again but I'm changing my shocker to 80lb braid (still thinner than 60lb mono)

One problem with braid is that it really doesn't like rocks. If you use braid you will most defently need a shock leader.

As for colour I use dark colours as most of my fishing is done at night.

It only doesn't like rocks because 30lb briad is the equivalent to 6-8lb line.

6lb mono wouldn't like rocks either.

My favourite braid for spinning is Invisibraid. As the name suggests ,its supposed to be invisible under the water. Its lovely to cast with and I've never yet damaged it over rocks. What I use for spinning is 20lb BS, but its so fine that as someone has already suggested, I'm sure 30lb BS will do the job well.

Sorry pal, but I suspect you've missed the fact that he wants it for spinning. As for beachcasting with it, you're right ,all the way of course.

Berkley whiplash, never used it in the sea but use it as a spodding braid for carp fishing in the 20lb and spinning for pike in 30lb or 50lb, there is also a crystal version available. look on Erics angling, £20 for a 300m spool

Also it is useful to use a floating braid as it will sit higher up in the water and is pure dyneema with no coating so is of a finer diameter

Powerpro is the braid most of the pikers use, very goo stuff. Try 50 or 60lb, its thin and you have a better chance of getting a snagged lure back. I use 100lb on my jerkbait set up for pike.

Whiplash Pro 30lb, type not important. 300M Spool. Dont need a rubbing leader unless your ledgering over rocks... Whiplash is tough stuff, takes allot of doing to damage it.

If your going to use a 4000 reel you'll need backing line, fill it up with backing to the point where you will get 150M of whiplash on tie the backing and braid together otherwise it could cost you a fish. (ive seen this happen, ive had pollack run me onto my backing before and ive been so glad ive tied them, my friend... Not so lucky)The backing line is important as with the braid being so thin on a fixed spool it can catch on the lip so really it needs to be as close to the lip as possible without over filling it (This is why braid spools are shaped the way they are, if you have a braid spool ignore everything i just said above). 1 Spool should last you a whole spring/summer season changing the braid half way through the season.

Hope this helps...

Dean.

Agreed although I aways use a rubhing leader, attached to the braid via a swivle, I find this better that tying it driectly to the mono.
