braided line

I am thinking of putting braided line on me small fixed spool that i
use for spinning i am also going to use it for flatty bashing aswell.
I dont know if you fill the spool with the braid or do ya put some line
on first then fill it with braid and what would be the best breaking strain.

It's probably best to put some backing line on the spool first, otherwise even a small reel will swallow a lot of braid. I think I loaded about half a 300yd spool on mine - can't see me needing more than 150yds on a spool.

A word of warning though - watch for wind knots! It's best to have the spool considerably under-filled. I find braid fine for flatty-bashing and the like, but must admit I've gone back to mono for spinning - I found it just too much hassle.

As to what kind of braid, I've found Berkely Whiplash 30lb to be fine - it's about as thin as 6lb mono.

I agree with the above i have used 22lb fire line on my spinning gear for 3 years now and love it, mind i do lose alot more fish on spinners etc but its uch more fun.

try having a short mono leader it acts as a rubbing leader to protect the braid and helps absorb a fish strike while not losing the direct feel with your plug or spinner

Hello Eddie,
Use some mono as backing, this stops the braid from slipping around the spool under pressure as the mono gets a better grip of the spools core. Also it saves you filing the spool with expensive braid most of which won't see the light of day once it's on.
G-force is right, 30lb whiplash is pretty good and so is power pro and stren.
