Just flicked through all of the kids TV channels, can't find Postman Pat. This strike's getting serious!

river tyne is producing a few size codling at the moment worm baits shud get ya fish as a starter a would avoid the walkway as its snaggy so far out ya dont want to be lossing loadsa tackle as a newbie so soon to put ya off hope ya get the fishing bug soon enjoy

Easy river marks such as Walker Riverside or pier marks like Blyth or Roker.

Would suggest two hook flappers, small hooks, with lug/rag and a mackeral tipper so you catch a few whiteys/flounder to get you going.

Welcome to NESA & hope you enjoy your sea fishing.
You will always get good advice & tips on NESA.
As for where to go fishing & what bait to use, you will not go wrong with the Tyne or the Wear rivers to start with. Go to your local fishing tackle supplier for ragworm or lugworm, this also an excellent place for advice & local knowledge of your area.
