Just come back from a week at Brighouse. Loads of dogfish including some around 2lb or maybe a touch over on the deep water rock marks. Boreness probably the pick of the bunch. But very little else. Got the impression the water hadn't really warmed up at all yet. Shallower marks hopeless. Water nice and clear but no sign of any bait fish or crabs peeling in the rock pools.

Hi, me and a couple of mates are thinking of heading up that way in July, how do you get to the coast from borness as It's not right on the coast? And are there any other marks anyone can recommend? Cheers
Hi Mate, drive into Borgue and left turn after the Borgue hotel where the fish smoking place is. Then first left again. Right to the bottom of the single track road there's a couple of houses. Park there next to the pond. Walk straight down through the gate and towards the sea. Manxman rock is straight ahead, Borness point to the left as you face the sea.
Manxman is relatively easy access but you get cut off at the top of the tide. Borness is a bit of a scramble but comfortable when you get on. Both lovely deep water marks.
Alternatively drive into the caravan park and head for "graplin" which is well signposted. Park there on the side of the road and walk down through the woods to the shore. You can walk round the front to the right and there's loads of rock marks to choose from. If you keep walking, past the end of the golf course up and over the shore you get to Borness anyway. But it's further that way. Hope this is useful info. If you get an OS map all will be clear but these directions should work anyway.
I find any chuck 80yds plus (guesstimate) hits sand but watch out for the doggies. There's loads. Any bait works but they love squid up there in my experience.
