just thought id put this up for folk who dont know what it is BIGGEST SHORE CAUGHT COD ,caught in 1966 a think ,was a 16 year old lad in barry wales and was 44 and half pound cod caught on herring if my memory serves me correct ,
ive just had a search for it ,the lad was called brandon jones and caught the 44 and a half 8 ozs cod from toms point barry in wales and a proper pig it was,its the record holder and still is heres link scroll down the pics till you see him black and white pic with the monster ,atb plum Optimism! Soz just googled largest rod caught fish off the UK came up with this, 12ft 9in blunt nosed 6 gilled shark weighing in at 1,056 lbs or 480k, thats canny heavy, the largest ever rod caught fish was a Great White 3427 lbs, , thats sharks depends if you count them as fish

I remember an article in sea angler mag not too long ago,featuring that lad(now a man )obviously.He is still a keen angler,dont blame him for being after catching that cod.

not sure its the biggest shore caught fish in the UK

there was a barn door of a skate landed from the shore in harris last year at 192lbs I think it was, and one a few pounds bigger from the same spot a couple of years earlier

If I remember rightly, last years was one of 5 caught in one session for something like 750Lbs!

yes mate i saw it he was wondering where the mounted fish had gone as it was in the fishop for years on wall but they moved and he never got the chance of it back ,hes still got the old fixed spool what caught it ,i remember reading it ,JAMMY GET haha
