My partner is on a flight right now to join up with family to celebrate my daughters wedding this Friday in Rhodes. I cant go cos my passport is dirty!!

It's dirty cos I've worked abroad where you need to have it with you all the time for ID purposes. I've travelled globally with the same passport including many "entries into the UK"!!

The goverment agencys have access to each others data these days and the police have DNA and Fingerprint databases but it still takes several days to ID a person in the digital age? I have 40 years experience in paying taxes to this country so how don't they know who I am?

passports are mad, to prove you are british and therefore entitled to one you have to get pictures signed by your doctor, who, in a recent study by the national audit office, in 40% of the cases are non british nationals who have been in the country less than three years and in many case don't hold full british nationality themselves!

aye Mark, "mad" is a good way to describe it. Anyone can walk in and say "allah is my passport" and be granted entry (I've seen it at Dover). Just cost me 2k to try and get out FFS and I'm still here

not happy but bushmills is making it better and I just scored for £250 by not needing the doggy sitter, pity I wont be on me baba's wedding photos

na cos me passport is damaged and "could" have been tampered with so it would take 5 days

A damaged passport is any passport that isn't in pristene condition! Wear and tear is classed as damage but there are no parameters:

"‘DAMAGED’could be any passport that is not in pristine condition. The most common example of a damaged passport is where the laminate on the corners of the passport is only slightly curled or letting go. Another example is where a passport has got wet. Many passports have some form of wear and tear considered as ‘damage’ by the passport office. "

I'm not bitter or mad, just confused when I can be ID'd by the police in seconds by state of the art technology

Just leave it in the box and soak the cardboard in water before throwing on a hot BBQ...I saw Hugh Fearnly Whittingchop cook a fish that way once...I'm sure the theory is the same
