I have been speaking to my dad this afternoon and he said a friend of his has heard that the pier is going to be restored for public access, Has anybody heard similar stories or could this just be a rumour- heres hoping!!

I have heard lots of stories like that over the years and they have all proved to be just rumours. I am not saying that it isn't true as I don't know, but don't hold your breath mate.

Some how I doubt it,it will cost a fortune to restore then there is the public liability aspect of it,at a guess probably millions of Tax Payers money,the turbines cover the width of the pier anyway,the walkway is wooden unlike other local piers that are concrete (except Blyth pier)

probably just a rumour but who knows.
i remember some years back when there was a deal if enough money could be raised by anglers then a well known company would meet the rest of the costs for the work to be carried out to open the pier again.
well the money wasnt just raised but actually met more than half the costs of the repairs.and guess what that well known company withdrew there 1st opinion.
the money raised by the anglers was given to the R.N.L.I.
my thoughts too dont hold your breath.it would be a great idea but a dream at that.
you might have more luck trying to find funds to buy the pier and do the work with money raised.just another thought.
you have my backing for sure.
wonder how many would do their bit to have this pier open to the public ..
