Was fishing cambois pier late evening last night had some great cod ranging from 2 to 4 pound but late on that night my mate had a cow on when we seen at surface my god it must have been over a 20 but just could not get it in at all try hand ballin the line but not a chance no chance of a drop net was too far out if that happens next be worth trying to get down towards the steps to get it

Happened to my mate about 13 years ago. We knew he had a bigun on and when it hit the surface it must of been over 20lbs. I started to climb the ladder down to the water level and got about half way when it snapped the line about 6ft away. he was gutted as it would still be his PB from shore or boat but i never mention it now of course I'm still unsure as to what i would of done had i grabbed it as i would of also has to keep hold of the ladder Probably just let it go i think

I recone we had some others like it with the rod look but couuldn t be sure as it just reeled a bit stayed still wouldn t move then just went but still still had some nice cod to take home

same happened to my mate mal about twenty years ago. i tried hand balling it up to the top but the line snapped. he got his own back the next night on west pier only about 10lbs this time but the sea was huge and a wave hit the fish on the lift and byebye. wouldnt mind the same fishing now!!!!!!
