Since I introduced my good lady to the joys of fishing 14 months ago she has become addicted to buying fishing gear off ebay.

I had never even been on the site, until she started her buying spree.

To date she has bought a box of assorted reels(for assorted, read knackered), 5 boat rods,(1 tip broke with first fish!), 2 Penn boat reels, 2 shore rods, 1 spinning rod, 1 diawa 7ht, 1 penn 525, 2 fixed spool reels, 2 floatation suits, 2 pairs of waterproof bib and brace, one bright red, one bright blue, as she "liked both colours." 2 pairs of waterproof trousers, 1 bright yellow, one bright green, as she "liked both colours", 2 pairs wellies, 1 yellow "to go with the trousers" and 1 bright red, "to go with the bib and brace. 2 wind-cheaters, 1 pair steel toe-capped boots,6 pairs of gloves, 6 spools of bright red line, 1 filleting knife, 6 boxes of tip lights, 1 headlamp,( we have never ever fished in the dark!), 1 Rod rest,2 pairs of scissors, 2 dis-gorgers, 2 priests, 2 backpacks,1 deep fat fryer "to make fish and chips in the caravan" 1 portable freezer "to keep fish fresh in the caravan"

Of the above, the only item she has given me is 1 floatation suit!!

Is this normal?

We are off to Crimden Dene for a week on the 6th April. I think I may have to get the train, as there might not be room for me in the car!!!

Haha, roll on the hols!!

I long ago decided its the act of shopping/buying that women like - the item(s) purchased are often almost incidental and academic

Well Kayos is she starting a shop up or is she making sure you dont run out of gear and to be honest you dont know what your getting on ebay because you just out bid anybody else to get it so if i were her she should ask you to look on the nesa forum for better deals.:D:D:D

Haha, good luck with the advice James!! She just ignores me. Anyway her money.

To be fair apart from 1 rod and the "assorted reels" everything has been good quality and cheap.

She loves the bidding process I fear!

I have never bought off ebay, don't have an account, but bought a good few times from here, always have had great gear at good prices, would recommend it.
