Of course he is tight,he is a businessman and a damn good one at that, the lads probably done more for seafishing in the northeast than any other angler/tackleshop owner around by way of organising, sponsoring competitions and helping anglers with marks, rigs baits etcetc. As for bait if you want good stuff phone him well in advance,if its available he will keep it for you when it arrives regardless of if your new to the sport or a cling on:D....Cling ons my fat [email protected] 90% of anglers use the shop and have a good bit craic....only a very small shop....so yip 3 people in its a crowd........The best stocked shop in Sunderland without a shadow of a doubt......Bait is expensive but end of the day when other tackleshops have folded in the past as they dont make a profit, hell be there with bait when your desperate.
Dont really agree with threads slating tackle shops, fair enough if they have tried ripping you off...........agree with other posts support your local tackle shops .........Reet i will be off to rutherfords in the morning to assume my position on the starboard bow before he goes to Gambia with the rest of the clingons;)

:D:D

rutherfords

:Dwhatever he is or what ever species he attracts to his shop hes had plenty support and advertising on here:exclam::exclam::D

andy is a good lad, good quality gear used to buy everthing from him when i fished.i bought a saltist 30 2 yr back and it was £20.00 cheaper than my local dealer r,,,,,,,,t have a guess what this shop name is,the same guy when you go in for certain baits he has'nt got it but he has a fridge full keeping it for his regulars ,and he's only got a smile on his face when your spending money bad business i think.

Is thus not down to the bait in the fridge being pre ordered

dont go in that often but always has bait when i want it and seems an ok bloke very helpful and knowledgeable and yes it is an aladdins cave :)

ive shopped there for years and years since its opened and hes always been good and has just about everything i want ,other shops dont, tackle is awesome and cheaper than anywhere else ,i know i shop around :)

no mate he keeps it for his mates and makes sure they have what they need, before he will sell to you hes a funny bloke and alot of would agree.hes had alot of dissatisfied customers.me like alot of others would rather travel to rutherfords than spend my money in his shop.

Mako, i guess your talking about me.
Well you are entitled to your opinnion, it seems tackle dealers are such an easy target, there is always someone willing to drag them down just because they dont go along with the way they think.

The bit about the bait, i dont just keep bait for my mates, if your post is anything to judge by i mustnt have any mates at all so how can i keep bait for them.

The other bit about keeping bait for my regulars, yes i do keep bait for my regulars and why shoudnt i !

away lads lets not get to personal if it wasnt for tackle shops where wud we be smaller tides doesnt get you lugworm but atleast they still provide some decent ragworm thats always in good supply im happy with a few pkts of frozen blacks out the freezer and ragworm to tip off if the fish are there they will have it ;)

Your right yours truly, am a clingon who gets in andys shop and take them comments as a personell insult, people cant expect to go online for tackle and supplies to save 2 and 3 pound. then come into a tackle shop and expect dealers to drop at thier feet and hold bait back just incase that one day they buy something from them. Also you find that the clingons are only doing what everyone else on this site is doing trying to find out whats happening and where, and talking general fishing chat just in the form of realife and not cyber angling. Then as soon as a tackle shop owner defends himself quite rightly! someone chirps in lets calm it down and not get personal. Only visit these web sites occasionally and cant find a thread where people are not getting slagged...... so here is my opinion get down your local tackle shop buy a bit gear ask a bit advice get some tips you never know you could learn something:) or learn them something:red:

Support local tackle shops.

Tackle Shops

Tackle Shops

I Think Its Fair To Say We As Anglers Owe A Debt Of Gratitude To All Tackle Shop Owners. Who Ever And Where Ever They Are.

I own a tackle shop not too far away from Andy's and he's prices are spot on.

Ive only been in the business since september but i hope 20 years down the line if i survive i have a shop like Andys, If theres something i dont have in i allways send my customers down his shop as i know they WILL get what they want.

no mate he keeps it for his mates and makes sure they have what they need, before he will sell to you hes a funny bloke and alot of would agree.hes had alot of dissatisfied customers.me like alot of others would rather travel to rutherfords than spend my money in his shop.

I'm glad to say this is not my experiance in this shop

just out of curiosity how long has andy had the shop, was it a tackle shop before,or did he start from scratch:question:

if tackle shops in general didnt keep bait for regular customers when ordered in advance over anglers who just pop in now and again then the would not have regular customers , i go to rutherfords now and again but i dont expect better than regulars , but he will sell it if he has it which is all most definatly yes unless it is a bait that is scarse at the time then he might not have it or if he has he is keeping it for himself or regulars who have standing orders for that bait . which i think every tackle shop will do .

When I was in his shop I did ask if he had any crab and he said he didn't have any and it depended on people contacting him to off load bait. I've only used his shop a few times but the way I picked the bloke up I reckon if I'd left him my mob number he would have rang me when he got some in.

no mate he would'nt have rang you if you left your home number with him,i used to go in there and spend a canny bit money but no more im glad to say.now im intitled to my opion and given it.im ganna keep my gob shut now,yes i know wish you would.;)

Hey Mako mate, out of curiosity is there any tackle shops you do like? No specifics please, just yes or no.

ive been watching this thread for a while and could guess how it would end up.alls I can say is that rutherford is the best for terminal tackle in the north east.

i remember going with my dad when i was a nipper, and it still has'nt changed:D

thats a sign of a successful business
