Car Crime Horden

Hi all, this is my first few posts and its a shame its not a more positive one. My mate and me have just started sea fishing this year, after many years of fresh water fishing we got bored and decided to give the sea a crack, only had about 5 sessions and I've really been enjoying it. We had a decent session down horden a couple of weeks ago, when we both caught our first ever fish off the shore and a good few more, so we went down yesterday in the hope of a repeat performance, I arrived about 1pm, my mate john and his friend simon were already there, I only had a couple of hours spare so I left biteless at about 3.15pm. Unfortunately in that short space of time some little ##';[]..'['s had smashed the passenger side window of my mates astra, in broad daylight middle of the afternoon, and for what? a handful of cds out of the glove box. I feel totally gutted for my mate, he has spent over a £1000 on that car recently due to his cam belt snapping, now he has to spend more money because of some little worthless druggy needing a hit. We were both really enjoying the challenge of sea fishing and getting a real buzz from it, now I'm debating whether its worth bothering with it anymore.

Cheers

Rich

Ps any marks with safe areas for parking around the north east coast ?

Hi ijakk,Welcome to sea fishing and to NESA, Sad to hear about your mates missfortune by some worthless piece of sh.t with no brain.:( Unfortunatley, it can happen anytime your pride&joy is left alone at some lonely spot. Good to hear you've caught a few fish though. I've fished the coast all my life, and touch wood, no trouble up to now. Hope it's just a one off, cause sea fishing can be so rewarding at times. Cheers guys, I know its probably just one of those unlucky things, my van was parked right next to my mates astra but they didn't touch it, shame there isn't some secure car parking around, all it would take is a camera, might have to go further a field for fishing in future, shame though.

Hi Rich

I assume you were parked in the car park up from the blocks. I regularly fish that beach and never leave my car in the car park. Sad, but true - It has been notorious for cars getting damaged etc for years. I always leave my car outside the bungalows, just past the school. It is a killer walk, lugging all of your gear back up, but worth it for the peace of mind. Sorry for your mate, but don't let the little B******* put you off it is a great beach and have had many good sessions there.

Thanks for reply, Yes mate bottom of cotsford lane, wont be parking there in future, i'll try parking up there next time I just worry about the little  spotting me unloading before walking down. If its such a hotspot its a shame nothing is done about it but no suprise there.

Cheers

hi and welcolme to nesa. if you and your mates fancy a venture north of the tyne then cambois beach aint bad and some marks you can park right next to the beach. the beach at lynemouth power station not bad either plus you are allowed to park in the power station car park. when you get there ask at the gate house (next to car park) and they will tell you how to get round to the beach behind the power station next to the hot water pipe.

hope this has been of help.

Me and my uncle about 15 years ago fished crimdon, we looked up and seen a car being set on fire and then pushed off the top of the cliff!!:o
We had a laugh about it as it looked quite funny untill we packed up and walked back to the car to find it gone! Yep, it was his old metro that was fired and pushed over!!!

Neither of us have ever left our cars anywhere unsafe whilst fishing since:rolleyes:

Hi Rich and welcome to NESA. There are a lot of places I have'nt fished for quite a lot of years now because of the car crime, it's not just that neck of the woods it can happen in either. I've been very lucky, as I used to park in a lot of very quiet places, miles from anywhere and have only had my car broken into once. That was at Cullernose Point in Northumberland, the very first time I fished it. Needless to say I never fished it again when it was dark.

I don't think it really matters where you park though, if someone wants to do your car they will, whether it is day or night. The car park at the top of Blyth beach is always said to be safe as there are cameras pointing over the top part near the beach. Four cars got done in there one night quite a few years ago, two in the front row and two in the back all parked next to each other and obviously just done for quickness as none of the other cars were touched and there were quite a few parked that night.

A lot of people I know would never fish the middle toilet area on Blyth beach because of the night time activities of the local doggers and gays. I fished there quite a lot as no one would go near a car when there were people wandering about.

Jim.

Don't let them win mate, one day they'll hit the wrong car and end up in the boot of it for along drive. Roker pier ok, Glassworks Sunderland, Hendon Prom is OK as you fish from the front of your car and is regularly visited by Northumbria Police, Then it's north of the tyne. Keep at it. Remember the duck tape for your boot companions if you catch em;)

Many thanks for the warm welcome and the advice on marks, much appreciated.

Crammycodhunter,
I have been considering a trip up that way, cambois, cresswell, druridge bay etc, sound like decent spots from what I've read. I live in Darlington and with petrol prices constantly creeping up and up travelling far puts a strain on the old finances but having said that I'd rather pay for petrol than a new windscreen.

Funny you should say that, I went to crimdon yesterday for a look around, seemed alright, then I went on the blackhall rocks, road to the left was closed so I parked up in the car park round to the right, wasn't till I got out of the van that I noticed the massive car sized scorch mark on the tarmac, obviously they like a good car fire out that way.

Think your right mate, if they want to be in nowt will stop them, they have no idea what it like to work hard for the things you have, a spell in afganistan would do then the world of good, well maybe not them but it would benifit the rest of us.

Cheers mate, I agree what goes around comes around.
