I've been toying with using it, read many an article, some glowing, some saying it's just like any other bait, it has it's day. As for the glowing reports, well they reckon it's absolute dynamite and wouldn't go with out it. We all know the effectiveness of peeler crab but I don't feel lost without it. In fact I haven't got any this year but as long as I have good frozen blacks, good mussels, some dirty squid and razor in the freezer I'm happy. Obviously I'll get fresh lug as well but again I'm not upset just going with the above and I do well with it. So is cart really as good as they say it is people ?

simple answer yes

ok tbh heres me experience on the thing... ive seen it outfish other baits only on one occasion when fishing hendon prom. ive caught a few fish on it but then again caught similar on fish on other baits on the same sesh. so its kinda hard to say the one-up on kart. it did bog all yesterday for me as did lug / mussel /peeler / and squid so its just as good/as useless as most classic baits.

My first experience was at Seaham. When I got there a lad had 5 small codling on sandeels, and everyone was complaining that the fish would take nothing else. I kicked off with lug and mussel and got a few little knocks. By this time everyone was complaining the fish had gone off and it was a waste of time. I switched to Cart and the rod nearly went off the stand within an few minutes. I ended up with 3 codling on it when no-one else was catching. That gave me confidence but in two trips since I haven't caught on it. But to be fair no-one was catching much on anything, just a few whiteys. So I guess it has it's day like any other bait. Hope this is helpful in some way.

Personaly I only use it in rough ground but some people like it on the beaches. Just in my eyes worm is the best bait for beaches with razzor or mussel I don't use crab on beaches. But that's just me lol

depends on the beach if you use crab or not imo most lads north of the tyne don't use cart as its banned from the opens and club matches due to local bylaws

Yea you get rough ground beaches but mainly clean so cart no good fishes well up north don't understand why it's banned up north seams stupid if the crab you use is sized it's up to you what you do with it.

I'm inclined to agree. If you buy sized crab from reputable dealer then it should be up to you whether you eat the brown meat or use it fishing. I also agree that the jist seems to be that it is effective over heavy ground rather then clean.

Thanks for everyones opinions.

Laws are laws I guess but no good on clean ground but I don't rate peeler on clean ground either so can't compare.but in rough it does out fish peeler especially in deep water marks. And it's alot cheaper

used cart for years.... just another bait... it has it days like any other.... but i must admit its more effective in hard ground than sand... and yes it does fish after xmas as well....but some people believe crab etc is only any good till november....
cheers
Paul
