had nie bother myself dean when i have tried it dean.
I've been trying it out over the last six months or so but, like Bucky's mate keep having problems. In particular, it has a tendency to dig into itself on the reel and cause backlashes or crackoffs. The only way i've found to stop it, is to turn the magnets right up, but this dramatically shortens the casts.
I'll follow the thread with interest, because I love braid and dislike fixed spools and want it to work...

it is best used on reels like the slosh 20 and 30 as on account balancing problems occur on the likes of smaller abus and penn 525s.
also best to put minimal amount of braid on you need as it tends to go all over the place bottom of spool hence balance problems.
i tend to like to put very thin mono on spool for packing and makes a solid base for the braid.
also i like to put braid on under tension and wet plus i use a mono leader leader on to stop braid digging in upon itself at start of cast.
i have use braid on a penn 525 but this real can even be hard to run smoothly wth mono.just dont put to much braid on it distorts so easlily under top layers of braid.

I know a few lads swear by it on there multi's,never tried it tho,love it on the mangle

Been using .36mm (66lb) Power Pro on a Saltist 20 (magged / doctored by Mart Watson) for a couple of years now and it works like a dream for me. Use it off the Northy, Southy, Horden, Blast (and Shields), with an 80lb leader I've had 70lb rig body go before the braid does when I've hit an unexpected snag.
Casts like a dream both overhead off the piers or pendulum off the beaches. Always pull for a break by wrapping the line round something solid and walking back (usually comes away within a couple of steps) - walking back with the rod / reel is just asking for trouble, as is trying to rive out of the snag using the rod.
Does have downsides - no stretch so the rod tip will bounce around a lot in a decent sea, also no stretch and too stiff a rod and you risk bouncing a fish off if you need to bully it through heavy ground. But casting wise as long as your technique is up to it braid behaves as well as mono.
It's not perfect and it's not a panacea but used in the right way it does an excellent job

Been useing it all over the winter & can say I have not had one bit of bother with it
if you use the rod & reel to pull out of BAD snags then yes the braid will pull into the spool of line, start with brakes on your reel until you feel you can handle it then ease them off good luck pal

Much prefer it on a fixed spool, it's a case of fire and forget. Penn spinfisher, battles etc are the way to go. Ultegras are brilliant as well. I've got a fox diablo which is basically a battle which they use out in the quays on sailfish, tarpon, GT's etc and it's as tough as bulls lugs.

Well ive had a go with 8 oz lead on the beach.didnt have any bother.really hitting the rod too.gonna test it ( thin whiplash)on fishing come weekend. i wreckon the key is to develop a few simple tricks which stops the braid digging in. Just bought a penn spinfisher and still not convinced so trying my best to perfect braid and my 525s.

It works ok on multi but balancing the spool and you won't get the distance you will get with the coffee grinder, plus with the lighter lower diameter line you will have problems with the braid lifting, and no thumbing of the spool or you will lose a thumb lol

had thin braid on my penn 525 last yr was ok at first but then start to make a noise .what happens is the bottom layers of braid moves about distorts and thats what causes unbalancing problems.
could try putting very thin mono on and make sure spool is balanced before putting braid on and then i would try putting about an xtra 10yrs extra on spool than you can normaly cast out.
also soak spool of braid in water for approx an hr before putting on spool under tension and another tip is to wet braid on spool before everyouting and a heavy mono leader is a must.

Wouldn't like to chuck an 8oz lead on a braid leader mind.. My shoulders, neck, hernia are just recovering now after the winter

Always mono shocker for me on multi's.
Braid shockers on fixed spool blenders.
I really dont know what all the hype is about on fixed spool blenders.
couple of year people will gan back to multis.

That's it mate. The practicality of the the f/s and ease of use. If it makes braid work better then why not use it
